Hello golfers! Hopefully the weather holds out this week and we can get in two nights of good golf.
You’ll be pleasantly surprised to see lagers at the courses this week. Lagers have traditionally been the big money makers for macro breweries and are what most people think of as the generic beer in America. As such, they’ve been largely absent from the craft beef scene, where they’re even considered by some to be the anti-craft beer. Even so, a lot of craft breweries have been jumping on the lager bandwagon lately, and Firestone Walker is one of them. For the Monday league at Highlands, we’ll feature Firestone Walker’s lager on tap in the clubhouse. For the cans on the beer cart, we'll have Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) from our local White Elm Brewing. This delicious pale ale is one of their newest beers.
We’ll also feature beers from White Elm at the Tuesday Holmes league. The included round beer on tap will be Still Life Lager, their own take on lager. We’ll also be sampling PMA on the course, and Abuelita, their new milk/sweet stout.
A few recommendations for your pin prizes from Moran's this week: Their taps are loaded up with a Cinco-de-Mayo-themed beer selection, so stop by to give them a try. Last week they got in a couple different fresh IPAs from Toppling Goliath out of Decorah, Iowa, one of the current top breweries in the world for IPAs. For Saison lovers, they also have a collaboration brew from Hill Farmstead and Anchorage Brewing.
Our featured beer for the Rare Beer Dinner sweepstakes this week is one of the finest pale ales in the world: Double Dry Hopped Pseudo Sue from Toppling Goliath. Following a recent expansion to its brewery, Toppling Goliath has quickly established itself as a world-class brewer. Visitors from all over the world travel to Iowa to tour their taproom and sample their fantastic brews.
