Hope you’re ready for another great week of golf and craft beer. For Monday at Highlands we have Zipline’s Kölsch on tap (a smooth, cirsp ale with hints of honey and malt). We’ll also have Founder’s Brewing Company’s Solid Gold in cans. Released earlier this year, it’s a golden lager brewed with lager yeast, corn, and Lemondrop hops for a little bit of citrusy sweetness.
At the Tuesday Holmes league, we’ll feature more Zipline brews. The included round beer on tap will be the Mimosa White (a saison/farmhouse ale-style beer that we sampled back in week one). We’ll also be sampling Zipline’s Kölsch and Harumeku. Pronounced HAIR-oo-MEE-koo, Harumeku is a Japanese term for the seasonal transition to spring. This saison is intended to deliver spring in a glass with a combination of a peppery farmhouse yeast and the lemongrass aroma of Sorachi Ace hops for a spicy, smooth-drinking ale.
Our featured beer for the Rare Beer Dinner sweepstakes this week is the Pirate Bomb from Prairie Artisan Ales in Oklahoma. The Pirate Bomb is their regular Prairie Bomb (an imperial stout with notes of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and chili peppers) aged in rum casks to impart deep vanilla and coconut flavors.
