2018 CBGL W#2
Ryan Cooper
Hello CBGLers! We hope you enjoyed your first week of league and found some new beers to add to your repertoire.
For the Monday league at Highlands, you will be able to double up on your included round beers this week because of last week's mix-up. We'll have a couple great IPAs for you this week. On tap in the clubhouse you'll find Fresh Squeezed—a crisp, citrusy IPA with nice hops—from Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery. The featured can for purchase on the beer cart will be Two Hearted from Bell’s Brewery out of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
At the Tuesday Holmes league, we'll be featuring Empyrean Brewing Co., another Lincoln brewery. Third Stone Brown will be on tap in the clubhouse. It’s an English brown ale that’s surprisingly light with lots of toasty, nutty flavor and a good dose of caramel. K&Z will also sample its Mango IPA and Baltic Porter out on the course.
A big thanks to Moran's Liquor Works for their sponsorship again this year. If you're on Facebook, go give their page a like to stay up to date on some of the more exciting beers hitting their shelves each week. A couple noteworthy selections that are currently on their tap list in the growler shop are Velvet Merkin, a barrel-aged oatmeal stout from Firestone Walker, and Luponic Distortion #9, a great IPA from the same brewery.
Our featured beer for the Rare Beer Dinner Sweepstakes this week is Barrel-Aged Darkness from Surly Brewing Company out of Minneapolis. It's a heavy-hitting Imperial Stout, aged for three months in Woodford Reserve rye barrels. This is an annual release, and there’s an accompanying beer festival that celebrates it. Be on the lookout for the 2018 release around Halloween.
