Hello, golfers! It's Championship Week! We hope you all had a great time this year, and found some new favorite beers along the way.
Our pin prize from Moran’s this week is Cellar 3: Oculus Sauvage from Green Flash Brewing Company, out of San Diego. I thought it would be fun to feature them this week, as they just announced they will open a taphouse in the former Ploughshare Brewing space. Green Flash has been a heavy-hitter in the craft beer scene for about 15 years. The Cellar 3 program started in 2015, and focuses on barrel-aged and bottle-conditioned beers. Oculus Sauvage is a hybrid Belgian IPA/Tripel, with black currants added, and aged in red wine barrels.
I hope you've all had the chance to stop by Moran's to explore their craft beer selection and try some new beers in their taproom. They have been a very supportive sponsor since the first CBGL, and deserve some love.
Our featured beer for the Rare Beer Dinner Check-in Sweepstakes is Bourbon County Brand Regal Rye Stout. This was one of the best variants of Bourbon County from their 2015 batches. This beer is dessert in a bottle. It was aged in rye whiskey barrels with blackberries, candied cherries, sour cherries, and sea salt. Of all of the variants available that year, this one has aged the best. I had a chance to revisit it a few weeks ago, and it was quite remarkable. It comes in with a world-class rating of 96 on beeradvocate.com.
For the Highlands league this week, K&Z has will have some beers from our local White Elm Brewing. On tap, we'll have Rollo, a Pale Wheat Ale. On the beer cart, you'll be able to get tastings of Inverted Galaxy DIPA and Hibiscus Saison. White Elm has been cranking out some great beers in the short time they've been open. If you haven't stopped by their taproom yet, be sure to put it on your to-do list.
At the Holmes league, Quality Brands will be featuring Infusion Brewing from Omaha. We'll have a keg of Vanilla Bean Blonde on tap. On the beer cart, there will be cans of Red X IPA, and Infusionfest, an Oktoberfest-style beer. Next time you find yourself in the Benson area in Omaha, stop in for a pint or two.
As always, make sure to check in on the GolfStatus app for your chance to win a seat at one of our Rare Beer Dinners. We had some heavy hitters at the second beer dinner last week, and you don't want to miss out on the next one!
Don't forget to register for the fall rotating league:
No Subs. Straight Match Play format, so no bonus points for low score. Players that are not in a 1 vs. 2 or 3 vs. 4 match still play a match; we will randomly pull cards and the winners of those matches will get prizes. For teams with one player, that player may hit two shots until they are inside of 100 yards.
Grilled Certified Piedmontese flat iron steaks, Kitchen Sink cookies, salad, homemade mac salad, and corn casserole.
