2nd Half Week 6 Beers

Ryan Cooper

Hello, golfers! Looks like we're in store for some nice golfing weather this week, if the rain holds off for the Highlands league.

Our pin prize from Moran’s this week is Bretta Weisse from Firestone Walker, out of California. This is an extremely limited beer from their Barrelworks program. The Berliner Weisse style is a mildly sour beer, perfect for a hot summer day, with its tart citrus notes, and lower ABV. This one was aged for eight months in oak foeders. As of Sunday, there were still a few of these left on the shelf at Moran's, so if this is a style of beer that excites you, I'd recommend running out to grab some while you still can.

Our featured beer for the Rare Beer Dinner Check-in Sweepstakes is another variant from the Bourbon County line from Goose Island Beer Company, out of Chicago. Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout is one of my personal favorites of the bunch. This one is the 2016 version, brewed with Intelligentsia Fletcha Roja coffee. It comes in with a world-class rating of 100 on beeradvocate.com. It will be fun to stack up these different variants alongside the regular Bourbon County Brand Stout at our beer dinner, and see how they differ.

For the Highlands league this week, K&Z has some nice selections from our hometown Zipline Brewing. Their Kolsch will be on tap in the clubhouse. Someone will be on the beer cart pouring tastings of Gin Barrel Aged Hibiscus Saison and their fresh batch of Double IPA, possibly my two favorite beers from the brewery.

At the Holmes league, Quality Brands is going to mix things up a bit to get you all to taste some beers they are excited about over there. On tap, we'll have Fairy Nectar, an IPA from the brand new Kros Strain Brewing out of Omaha. For a new brewery, this is a very special IPA. They really knocked it out of the park on their first attempt! On the beer cart, you'll find cans of Blueberry Jam, and Raspberry Jam from Tallgrass brewing out of Kansas.

As always, make sure to check in on the GolfStatus app for your chance at winning a seat at one of our Rare Beer Dinners.
