Hello, golfers! Looks like we're in store for some cooler temps this week, so that will be nice for a change.
Our pin prize from Moran’s this week is Farking Wheaton W00tstout from Stone Brewing. Drew Curtis, Wil Wheaton, and Greg Koch collaborated on this bourbon barrel aged stout, and has become one of Stone's most highly sought after beers. It's brewed with pecans, wheat, and rye, and comes in with an outstanding rating of 90 on beeradvocate.com. Last year's batch didn't make it to our market, so I was very excited to see it show up in Lincoln again last week. This is a big beer that will age nicely in the bottle, if you decide to hold on to it for awhile. It'd be a nice beer to have around for a cold, winter day.
Our featured beer for the Rare Beer Dinner Check-in Sweepstakes is Bourbon County Brand Stout from Goose Island. This is the original barrel aged beer that started a huge movement in the beer community. Today, we have many options for huge, flavorful barrel aged beers, thanks to what Goose Island started with this beer. It still remains one of my all-time favorites today. You'll have to do a little planning ahead if you want to get your hands on some when they go on sale. BCBS is released on Black Friday each year, and typically sells out within hours. It comes in with a world-class rating of 100 on beeradvocate.com.
For the Highlands league this week, K&Z will be featuring some beers from our local Empyrean Brewing. On tap, we'll have their LunaSea ESB. On the beer cart, you will be able to get tastings of Watch Man IPA and Barrel Aged Baltic Porter.
At the Holmes league, Quality Brands will have some beers from Stone Brewing for us. We'll have a keg of W00tstout on tap in the clubhouse. Cans of Ripper, a Pale Ale; and Arrogant Bastard, a Stong Ale will be available for tastings and purchase on the beer cart. As always, make sure to check in on the GolfStatus app for your chance at winning a seat at one of our Rare Beer Dinners.
