Happy Memorial Day, CBGLers! Looks like we have two days of amazing golf weather in store for us this week.
Our pin prize from Moran’s this week is Farmer Wave from Hill Farmstead Brewery. This is a brewery consistently rated as one of the top two or three in the world, and their brews are typically only available to buy in their home state of Vermont. Farmer Wave was brewed in collaboration with Good Life Provisions, a new beer distributor to Lincoln last year, and we are lucky enough to be the only other market where this beer is available for purchase. It's a saison brewed with oats, lime, and salt, and is unlike any other saison I've ever tasted, in a very good way. It's light, tart, and effervescent, making for a great warm weather beer.
Our featured beer for the Rare Beer Dinner Check-in Sweepstakes is Bravo, from Firestone Walker. Bravo is the newest in Firestone Walker's Proprietor's Reserve series. It's an Imperial brown ale, aged in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. This beer is single-hopped with the Bravo hop variety. The mouthfeel of this beer is what brewers strive for but rarely achieve. You'll find flavors of caramel, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, and raisins, among others, when drinking this beer. It has an outstanding rating of 94 on beeradvocate.com.
At Highlands this week, K&Z has us set up with beers from Thunderhead Brewing Company, out of Kearney. On tap, we'll have Prairie Peach Wheat. On the beer cart, someone will be pouring tastings of Cornstalker, a dark wheat ale, and Schaben's Premium Mid-America Pilsner.
At Holmes, Quality Brands has us set up with a selection from Colorado’s Breckenridge Brewery. In the clubhouse, you'll find Breck IPA on tap. On the beer cart, you'll be able to purchase and grab tastings of Agave Wheat and Nitro Vanilla Porter.
