Hello, golfers. Week four of Craft Beer Golf League is upon us, and we have a lot more good beer to share with you all. Hopefully we'll escape a rainout on Tuesday.
Our pin prize from Moran’s this week is Enjoy By 5.29.17 from Stone Brewing. Enjoy By is their flagship Double IPA. The Enjoy By series is brewed with the intention that they are consumed within 30 days of bottling, for maximum freshness, and the dates all coincide with various holidays throughout the year. This one happens to fall on Memorial Day. These are big IPAs, bursting with citrus flavors and plenty of dankness.
Our featured beer for the Rare Beer Dinner Check-in Sweepstakes is Barrel Aged Bomb! from Prairie Artisan Ales, out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Prairie is perhaps best known for Bomb!, its Imperial Russian Stout, brewed with coffee, cocoa nibs, vanilla beans, and ancho chilies. The barrel-aged version adds depth to the already outstanding stout. When I first tasted it, I described it as “maple, mocha, milkshake.” It's truly one of my favorite beers.
K&Z has another local brewery for us to enjoy this week at the Highlands league. Ploughshare Brewing was started in Lincoln a few years ago by Matt Stinchfield, a World Beer Cup medalist, known for his use of classic European brewing methods. On tap, we'll have Farm Boy, their Cream Ale. There will be tastings of Tailgate Red and Percheron on the beer cart.
At the Holmes league, Quality Brands will be supplying a selection from First Street Brewing in Hastings. This will be the first week their beers are available in Lincoln, to coincide with Lincoln Beer Week. On tap, we'll have Popular Blonde. On the beer carts you'll find cans on Thornberry’s Best and White Ale for purchase, and tastings.
As always, make sure you check in on the GolfStatus app for your chance to win a seat at one of the Rare Beer Dinners. Last week Travis Holl and Dalton Graybeal were randomly selected as winners. Good luck to everyone this week!
